Minatare Public Schools is seeking qualified applicants for a 7th-12th Grade Language Arts Teacher for the 2022 – 2023 school year.
The English Language Arts teacher is responsible for creating a classroom environment that develops in each student the skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing that are fundamental to literate citizenship; the ELA teacher supports the development and appreciation of good literature of all types; motivates students to read widely for information and recreation; develops standards for critical judgment of written and oral communications; discovers and develops special talents of students and is attentive to student special needs.
EXPECTATIONS, EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor’s degree or higher
• Flexibility and a team-spirit work ethic
• Well developed interpersonal skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Nebraska Certification
• Knowledge of the Nebraska State Standards
• Experience in differentiating instruction, and supporting students with learning challenges
• Experience in ELA instruction in a middle or secondary school setting
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The duties of the English Language Arts teacher may include, but are not limited to the following tasks: Instruction
• Providing instruction to students in 7th-12th Grade
• Ability to perform essential functions of the position
• Willingly assisting the instructional process in its many forms
• Supporting school-wide instructional initiatives
• Gathering student data through observation, dialogue, testing tools, etc., and designing strategies to meet student needs
• Remaining current with Nebraska State Standards and other instructional requirements
• Supporting student learning through thoughtful planning and preparation and sound classroom management practices
• Attending Professional Development sessions
• Staying informed on the latest trends in English language education
• Assessing student progress
• Maintaining updated gradebooks, tracking the data, drafting report cards
• Assisting in conducting school-wide benchmark assessments when needed
Other Duties
• Effectively communicating with school administrators, teachers, student service personnel, parents regarding student performance and plans for improvement
• Participating in Student Assistance Team (SAT) meetings as needed
• Assisting students in adopting a behavior conducive to success in the classroom setting
• Participating in faculty meetings and professional learning community meetings
• Assisting in orientation and open houses as needed
• Modeling nondiscriminatory practices in all activities
• Performing other job-related functions as may be assigned
• Serving as Team Leader if requested
Minatare Elementary School is a Class D-2 school with small class sizes. The district has also approved a 4-day week calendar. Students will attend Monday-Thursday, with Fridays being used as either professional development time for staff or district scheduled leave time. Salary, contracted days, and benefits will be shared during an interview.
